Here’s another brunch interview with Canadian-Singaporean Megan, a laidback, chilled surfer who was such a pleasure to hobnob with.
BGIS: How long have you lived in Singapore?
M: I’m originally Singaporean but I moved to Vancouver when I was 9 and came back 3 years ago for work.
BGIS: What’s been your favourite holiday spot so far?
M: I love to surf so Bali’s Bukit Peninsula. I also love Myanmar which has recently opened up and is really unspoilt.
BGIS: What advice would you give someone moving here?
M: Be open to learning about the different cultures – Malay, Indian, Chinese and Peranakan.
BGIS: What’s the best thing about living in Singapore?
M: It’s safe, clean and multicultural.
BGIS: And the worst?
M: I walk really fast and they’re slow walkers here!
We ate at Strangers Reunion in Tiong Bahru. I loved the ambience and bright decor and the food was very good – generous portions, spicy sausage and well seasoned. Their teas and coffees are also excellent. Unfortunately it’s not toddler friendly – lots of corners and edges – but great if you have a small sleeping baby. I definitely want to come back and try more of their menu.
