Brunch with BGIS! Mayen…

This week we have the sophisticated and elegant Mayen telling us about her style and travel favourites. This British born lawyer loves to try out local Singaporean designers and picks up a lot of great stuff on her travels.

BGIS: How long have you lived in Singapore?

M: Just over two years. I moved from London.

BGIS: What’s been your favourite holiday spot so far?

M: Probably Bangkok. It’s very vibrant, has great food and excellent, cheap spas and massages.

BGIS: What advice would you give someone moving here?

M: Expect to pay a premium on all your cosmetics, 20-25% more on perfumes, conditioners etc.

BGIS: What’s the best thing about living in Singapore?

M: The network of people and opportunities to meet people is great.

BGIS: And the worst?

M: The expense and it’s humid all year round so those two things.

We ate at Relish by Wild Rocket in Cluny Court, a lovely little mall by Botanical Gardens which we both first discovered when furniture hunting last year. https://blackgirlinspore.com/2014/05/19/furniture-hunting-part-two/

I had the seafood pasta and Mayen their classic burger. We were happy with the food, it’s really a burger place with a lot of burger choices. We weren’t blown away but it’s a good place to brunch after a day’s shopping.
