So many people asked (and still ask) why we chose to have our wedding in Portugal. Having just moved to Singapore to be with my husband, it felt a bit nuts to ask 150 people to fly all the way over, and we wanted to actually spend time with close friends and family. We also wanted decent weather and I wasn’t confident of that in London…
Both my husband and I had our stag do and hen night in Albuferia, and we organised day trips, go-karting, lots of eating out and a welcome barbecue.
It was worryingly chilly in the lead up to the day so, we were thrilled to wake up to a warm, sunny wedding morning!
We got ready at Vila Vita Parc, the hotel that I fell in love with on a previous trip and the afternoon’s reception venue.
The 18th century church, Igreja de Matriz, is so beautiful, perched on top of a hill with stunning views.
Our ‘To Catch a Thief’ moment!
Back at Vila Vita for cocktails and canapés:
My husband’s beautiful suit was made by Rossi, bespoke Singaporean tailors and my dress was Augusta Jones, a British wedding dress designer. My veil and wedding belt were by Jesus Peiro. (Links at the bottom of the post)
After cutting the cake, bouquet toss and first dance, we moved into the Aladdin Bar, a Persian themed nightclub overlooking the ocean. Our DJ, Deema killed it! Dancing was such a release.
A huge thanks to Paula at Algarve Wedding Planners, our photographer Bandele Zuberi and makeup artist Alison Cameron who did both my hair and makeup. I fully intend to get my hands on every single product she used! Check out her blog to find out what they were.
I also highly recommend Morgan Davies Bridal Boutique in London, for their excellent all-round service so check them out if you’re planning a wedding.
Hope you enjoyed these two posts. Looking forward to a 5, 10, 15 year update in Jesus’ name!
