WEDDING ANNIVERSARY – THROWBACK! PART ONE

This month marks our 1 year wedding anniversary, so I decided to revisit the last year in pictures. Actually, it’s more than a year because we had 2 weddings – our traditional wedding in Lagos City Hall, Nigeria and our white wedding in Alporchinhos, Portugal. In fact, there’s a THIRD date to remember – the day we actually got married in Singapore. But that date’s a secret SO back to the weddings.

I LOVE weddings, and I’m that house guest who’s always eager to see people’s wedding pictures and that host who always forces my guests to look at my own. I’m shameless but there’s something about enjoying a woman’s day – her dress, hair style, flowers, bridal train – that I love. Even if I know from experience that it isn’t even the bride choosing that stuff most of the time! I still love to see it, because in some weird way I feel like it tells you so much about the woman – how much thought she put in or how laissez-faire she was about the whole thing.

We had two beautiful but very different days. Here they are:

THE TRADITIONAL WEDDING

The day started off with my girlfriends coming over for breakfast and to get dressed. They kept remarking how calm I was, everyone was convinced I’d be a gorgon! But I had totally surrendered and I was really touched that my girlfriends had flown in from London and Abuja just for the wedding.

Over at Eko Hotel, my husband had friends and family round. He was pretty calm too. His family wore green and mine orange so it was a very bright affair!

There was so much food and yet we only got to eat the tiniest bit! That’s always the way. There was lots of dancing, I didn’t want it to end. But now I was really looking forward to our white wedding, where I intended to eat, drink and be merry!

Thanks to our photographer Yinka Oluwakuse and to our families for such a beautiful day.
