Throwback – Thailand trip!

In anticipation of my first visit to Malaysia next week, I thought I’d share some pics from my first ever weekend break in Asia.

My husband and i went to Bang Tao in Phuket and stayed at Oxygen Villas, a secluded hotel 5 mins from Bang Tao beach and about a 20min drive from Patong beach.

Phuket is only a 1hour flight from Singapore so a couple of magazines and a nap later and we were in the sweltering heat.

On the first day we just chilled in Bang Tao, overeating on Pad Thais and freshly steamed crab. Bang Tao beach was quiet and serene and the service was really good.

The next day we checked out Patong beach. I was really nervous that it’d be horrible and packed full of noisy Westerners (sorry) but we had a blast. For one, its a huge beach surrounded by stunning mountains, and there’s so much to do – parasailing, jet skiing…

I wanted to parasail but as it was 2 weeks to our wedding, it seemed like a somewhat reckless idea! So we went jet skiing. After about 20mins I convinced my husband to let me drive…i still can’t believe he let me because I can’t drive, I’m extremely clumsy and I’m a diehard! But he did and I enjoyed listening to him screaming behind me as I tore towards the open sea! It’s okay, he still married me!

The food was delicious at Patong, in fact it was delicious everywhere we went. Service was again very good. Most of the waiters didn’t speak English which didn’t help as i’m allergic to quite a few things, but there were no disasters.

Unfortunately we were too exhausted to go clubbing with friends at Patong so I can’t attest to the nightlife but the cocktails we had were very good and cheap so we probably missed out.

All in all we had a wonderful time and I can’t wait to go back to Thailand. I see now what all the fuss is about!

Next week – The Tioman Islands. Im not 100% sure what to expect, but one things for sure I’ll be capturing the experience with my newly acquired camera and not with the rubbish phone camera I’ve been subjecting you to!

I’m enjoying these travel tales. I’m trying to plan a holiday and I’m in need of inspiration. I can’t decide if a city break or a beach holiday is what’s needed. Hmmm

Definitely a beach holiday! What about Bali? I havent been yet but it looks so beautiful, lovely hotels, cheap delicious food and loads of culture and stuff to do. You could also travel to Jakarta, that’s a bustling city! Xxx
