Singapore is literally choking! The haze from forest fires in Indonesia’s Sumatra island have completely covered the city and the government is pissed! So much so that Indonesia accused them of ‘acting like a child’.

Tourism has been seriously affected and all my favourite outdoor restaurants are deserted.

Coffee club - empty!

I’ve been forced to start wearing these horrible masks which I always thought looked ridiculous. But now its necessary. I’m sure people are looking at me weird – a black chick taking it all super seriously while some Singaporeans walk around mask-free but I don’t care.

It smells horrible and even my apartment is full of smoke.

Praying for the wind to change. The smog index has just hit 400, which is the critical level and dangerous for the elderly and small children.

I’m sure all will be well. In the meantime, I have a renewed empathy for those poor souls in Hong Kong!

AHHHH the smoooggg not the business!! Still really pretty!!! were the fires controlled burns or did it happen spontaneously/act of vandals? I would have done the same thing! Mask…. hazmat suit

It’s apparently caused by farmers trying to clear land on Indonesia’s Sumatra Island. Some do it illegally. As you can imagine the haze was terrible in Indonesia but everyone’s focused on Singapore.
